Welcome to Adult sailing at PCC!

This section is for sailors aged 18+.

We also offer Junior Sailing courses, please see the Junior Sailing page.

Each Adult sailing course has 1 x 3 hour session/week for 4 weeks.

If the days below do not suit you, please let us know as we may be able to add another course.

Adults Dinghy Learn to Sail

The starting point for new sailors. 

This course loosely follows the YachtingNZ Level 1 syllabus and gives sailors the ability to sail around a course.

We may also progress into Level 2, or in an alternative direction, during this course subject to the ability and wishes of the participants.

This course uses Splash sailing dinghies. These are a single handed vessel, ensuring quick progression and maximum sailing time. No having to share tasks!

We have a maximum of 6 sailors in each course, allowing for significant one on one time with the coach.

This is a 4 week long course with a cost of $495 for non-members.

Adults Dinghy Learn to Race

This course is for those that already have some sailing experience, or who have completed the Learn to Sail course.

This course teaches the sailors how to sail faster and introduces racing rules, starts and tactics.

This course uses Splash sailing dinghies. These are a single handed vessel, ensuring quick progression and maximum sailing time. No having to share tasks!

We have a maximum of 6 sailors in each course, allowing for significant one on one time with the coach.

This is a 4 week long course with a cost of $495 for non-members.

Adults Keelboat Learn to Sail

The starting point for new sailors. 

This course loosely follows the YachtingNZ Level 1 syllabus and gives sailors the ability to sail around a course.

We may also progress into Level 2, or in an alternative direction, during this course subject to the ability and wishes of the participants.

This course uses Sonar keelboats. These are a 5 person vessel (4 students + a coach), each sailor will have achance to learn each role on the sailboat. This course is great preparation for joining a rum racing crew.

We have a maximum of 8 sailors in each course, across 2 boats, allowing for significant one on one time with the coaches.

This is a 4 week long course with a cost of $695 for non-members.

Keelboat Cruising

If you are interested in larger keelboat sailing, or learning to cruise, please get in touch with us.

​​​​​​​Group bookings

If you have a group of children or adults that would like to sail at a different time than those above please let us know and we can organise extra sessions.

We work with a 1:6 ratio. The sailing groups must have a minimum of 4 students for any program to make it cost-effective for the Club. The After School Sailing Courses can take a maximum of 12 students in each course.
